Hazardous Materials

Hazardous materials at RIT are well managed and contained to prevent incidents that may have widespread impacts. However, incidents can occur in even the safest environment and could potentially result in an emergency. Incidents may result from equipment failure, human error, failure to follow established procedures, natural disaster, or sabotage.

In the event of a major chemical emergency, you will be notified by campus officials and other responders by email or with fliers.

Evacuation

When appropriate, Campus officials may decide to evacuate an area for your protection. It is important to stay calm, listen carefully and follow all instructions. Listen to a radio or television for evacuation announcements. Be sure that your area is included in the evacuation before you leave. If time allows, pack some essential items to take with you.
