Re-Employment and Adjusted Length of Service
Applies To: Rehire of Regular Employee (Faculty and Staff)
When a former Institute employee is rehired, his or her previous service is credited as follows:
Adjustments to Length of service are based on all creditable previous service and apply only where there has been a break in an employee's regular service at RIT. Previous service is any continuous employment at RIT in a regular job(s) for at least one year (or complete duration of at least one ten-month contract period. Temporary service does not qualify as regular service. Full credit is given for all previous service, with no adjustment or probation made for percent of full-time worked.
Adjustments to Length of service are reflected in an employee's adjusted hire date. The adjusted hire date is used to determine an employee's benefit eligibility, and any applicable waiting periods.
