Length-of-Service Awards

Applies To: All Regular Employees

It is a practice of the university to recognize the service of its employees. Length-of-service awards are presented to individuals employed in five year increments starting in their fifth year (e.g., 5, 10, 15, etc.). All employees whose anniversaries fall within the timeframe of January 1, through December 31st of the next year will be honored.

Employees who terminate employment prior to their anniversary date are not eligible for the service award.

Employees eligible for a service award and who are on a leave of absence or disability will receive the award upon their return to active employment.

Procedure

HR produces length of service certificates and distributes them to managers at the beginning of the LOS year (January). At the discretion of the manager, a modest celebration of the individual's service is appropriate.

On an annual basis, the university holds a reception to honor all employees for their service. A special luncheon, hosted by the president, is held for those employees celebrating 25 years of service or more in five year increments. Special gifts are presented to these individuals.
