Funeral Leave
Applies To: All Regular Employees
In the case of a death in the immediate family, employees are granted up to three working days leave with pay. At the discretion of the manager, additional time off may be granted. Pay is computed by using the employee's normal work schedule.
Immediate family is defined as employee's spouse/domestic partner, child, ward, step-child, mother, father, step-mother, step-father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, or grandchild.
An employee may take time off with pay, contingent upon department approval, to attend the funeral of other relatives or non-family members.
Procedure
Employee
- Notifies supervisor regarding need for time off due to death in the family
Supervisor
- Approves funeral leave
Employee
- Indicates "Excused With Pay" on time record for non-exempt employees
