Employment of Foreign Nationals

Applies to: Departments hiring foreign nationals, incoming foreign nationals, and foreign nationals holding positions at RIT

Whenever possible, the university will hire United States citizens or permanent residents, however, periodically, it is necessary to employ foreign nationals.

Hiring supervisors and search committee chairs should work with their Human Resource Services Manager to ensure that prospective members of the faculty or staff who are foreign nationals hold the appropriate visa status upon date of hire and maintain appropriate visa status during their employment.

Individuals who are foreign nationals are required by RIT to work through the university's designated legal counsel for immigration to handle their visa processes.
