2007 Performance Appraisal Options
Due to last year’s extension of the timeline for completing 2006 staff performance appraisals to July 31, 2007, several supervisors and department heads have inquired about the implications for 2007 appraisals.
To assist your planning efforts with other supervisory colleagues in your college, division, and/or department, below are alternatives for the 2007 cycle and related timeline for delivery:
- Remain on a calendar year cycle. If your last staff appraisal period was January 2006 – December 2006 (regardless of when they were delivered) this alternative is available to you. Supervisors remaining on this cycle (January 2007 – December 2007) should deliver 2007 appraisals to employees no later than March 14, 2008.
- Return to a calendar year cycle. If you choose this alternative, you’ll need to alter the 2007 appraisal cycle accordingly. For example, if your 2006 staff appraisal period was from January 2006 – June 2007 (i.e., extended to 18 months), your 2007 appraisal cycle will be shortened to July 2007 - December 2007. Supervisors returning to this cycle should deliver 2007 appraisals to employees no later than March 14, 2008.
- Extend the current appraisal period through May 23 2008. If you choose this alternative, you will effectively create a 2007-2008 appraisal cycle that concludes at Commencement…the unofficial end of Academic Year 07-08. Supervisors following this cycle should complete and deliver all appraisals no later than June 13 2008. (Note….2007 merit increment data will be due to HR March 21 2008, which is prior to end of this cycle; however, changes can be submitted to HR as warranted after June 13 2008.)
Supervisors should notify staff by February 13, 2008 regarding the appraisal cycle and delivery timeline that will be effective for 2007. If you need assistance in developing your plan for completing and delivering 2007 appraisals, please contact your HR Services Manager for assistance.
