Move-In and Move-Out Information

Move-In Information Winter 09-2

Students who are moving into the Residence Halls or the RIT INN & CONFERENCE CENTER should come to the Campus Post Office located in NRH bldg. 43 to get their school mailing address and pick up their mailbox key or their mailbox combination (if they have a combination mailbox).

Correct Address Format to be used is:

Your Name
# Nathaniel Rochester Hall
Rochester, New York 14623-5699
(Do not include PO, PO BOX, Dorm name or RIT in your address)
Your mailbox number is the same as your school mailing address.

Please use the name that's on the here card you sign when picking up your key or receiving your combination for all incoming mail. If mail is received under a different name it will be returned to sender. It's not guaranteed you will have the same mailing address as you did in the previous year.

STUDENTS LIVING IN THE RESIDENCE HALLS

  1. When you leave RIT please turn in your mailbox key to the Campus Post Office located in bldg. 43 (NRH) or use the express slot located in the lobby. If you leave and don't turn in your mailbox key, you will be billed $10.00 which will appear on your RIT bill.
  2. You may forward your mail online
    3. . Follow the steps using your DCE account. It's very easy, takes only seconds and can be done from anywhere with web access. Note: when submitting your name please use middle name or initial as some names are duplicated.
  3. If your mailbox has a combination lock you do not need to turn anything in but it's suggested you submit an online forwarding address.
  4. Students living in on campus apartments should hand their mailkey into housing operations and fill out a USPS change of address form.

STUDENTS LIVING AT THE RIT INN & CONFERENCE CENTER

  1. When you leave RIT turn in your mailbox key to the front desk at the RIT INN & CONFERENCE CENTER, or in the express slot located in the mailroom # 239. If you leave and don't turn in your mailbox key, you will be billed $10.00 which will appear on your RIT bill. You can drop it off at the post office in NRH also.

Mailing Belongings Home

Have packages addressed and taped ahead of time and they cannot weigh more than 70 lbs. if shipping through USPS. The return address (sender) must be in the upper left hand corner and the receiving person in the center of the envelope or package.
