Risk Management Study Abroad Program Review Process
As with any RIT study abroad program, Risk Management (RM) would like to review the full study abroad program details, along with the director's well thought plans for managing the safety, security and emergency preparedness of the trip.
To facilitate this review process, outlined below are the steps the Study Abroad program director needs to follow:
- Provide the Risk Management Office with a written description of the details/activities, itinerary, number of participants and any affiliated foreign partner, copies of any agreements and other relevant information. This proposal can be mailed (Eastman Bldg, Room 4008) or emailed (mjwrmss@rit.edu ).
- Review the Risk Management Guidelines for Planning a Study Abroad Program. (Risk Management Checklist for Faculty and Program Coordinators) As a supplement to your written study abroad trip proposal, address the Risk Management Guidelines items (Steps #1-9).
- Set up a meeting for Risk Management Office at (585) 475-6135 to go over your written proposal (Steps #1, #2 above). Please allow a minimum of ten days (10) turn around time for the Office to review your proposal before this meeting takes place.
- Once this is accomplished, Risk Management will alert the Office of Academic Enhancement Programs that we are supportive of this study abroad experience.
Assuming your study abroad program will be successful and grow, these documents will serve as foundations for successive years plans and review with the Risk Management Office.
Any questions about the risk management review process may be directed to the RIT Risk Management Office at (585) 475-6135. General study abroad program questions may also be answered by the Office of Academic Enhancement Programs, (585) 475-7634.
