Fall 2008 Parking Regulation Changes and Information

The Parking and Transportation Services office has been diligently implementing various strategic recommendations resulting from last years effort with the Comprehensive Parking and Transportation Strategy. If you did not have the opportunity to join in the various public meetings, please review the Strategy documents. Below are the resulting parking regulation changes, new programs and other information you will need for Fall 2008.

NEWRIT Rideshare Program – The Parking and Transportation Services office has developed a quick carpooling platform for your use via myCourses called RIT RideShare. With gasoline prices still on the rise, more and more people are looking into alternative travel modes (bicycle, motorcycle, transit, and carpooling). For more details on how to join see RIT RideShare

NEWRIT Bicycle Program – In cooperation with the RIT Cycling Club, additional bicycle amenities and bike routes will be available throughout campus. This is just an initial start to the first ever bicycle program at RIT. Future phases of the program are identified in more detail in the Comprehensive Parking and Transportation Strategy. A website for this program is under development and will be functional by September.

NEWEnhanced Shuttle Services – major changes will be in effect this Summer and Fall!

Parking Regulation Changes

Vehicle Registration opens on Thursday, August 21, 2008!

All vehicles on campus must be registered each year with the Parking Office. The on-line registration process is quick, easy and at your finger tips.

If you do not have an RIT computer account, go to download and print a vehicle registration application form. Please use this form only if you do not have an RIT computer account.

Reserved Permit sales open Thursday, August 21, 2008.

The Parking Office urges you to use our on-line services and your vehicle registration decal and Reserved permit will be mailed to you. Don't stand in line, go on-line! If you do not have an RIT computer account, fill out the form, mail it, fax it or take it to the Parking Office with your payment.

During the first month of Fall registration, the Parking office processes over 11,000 vehicle registrations and permits. When you register your vehicle(s) and purchase Reserved permits on-line, you do not have to come to the Parking Office to pick them up. To prevent long lines at our very small office, we urge you to use the on-line service. If you have any questions related to your account or any of our services, please contact the Parking Office at 475-2074. We hope everyone is enjoying their summer as we look forward to a new Academic Year!
