Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
The basic disclosure document required by OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard is the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), which provides a uniform outline of the potential hazardous effects and the physical and chemical characteristics of each hazardous chemical, along with information about special precautions and controls necessary for use of the chemical.
It is the responsibility of the management of each individual College or Division and of each person purchasing chemicals to ensure that a current MSDS is obtained and kept on file for each hazardous chemical used in each work area. The MSDS must be made readily accessible during all work hours to all employees using the chemical.
