Introduction to Development and Corporate Philanthropy

This session introduces participants to the Development Office and helps to increase understanding of how to best work with the development staff to raise gifts for your college, department or the university. Participants learn the fundraising structure at RIT, the internal processes and the steps to securing a gift. A detailed discussion and case study activities explain the impact of fundraising for RIT. Participants also gain an understanding of issues and trends in fundraising at RIT.

At the conclusion of this session, participants understand the benefits of fundraising activities and how to engage the Development Office in fundraising activities as well as in identifying potential donors.

This session includes information on Corporate Philanthropy. The Corporate Relations department in the Office of Development works specifically to build long –term beneficial relationships between RIT and corporate partners, with the goal of receiving significant and on-going philanthropic support from companies and corporate foundations.

This session is most beneficial for those employees, administration, faculty and staff that have or support direct interaction with alumni, corporate partners, and other supporters of their departments and RIT. It is also beneficial for those with responsibility for funding activities within their departments and/or the university.
