Provost Summer Intensive ASL and Deaf Culture Experience

The RIT Office of the Provost sponsors an annual Provost Summer Intensive American Sign Language and Deaf Culture Experience for selected RIT faculty/staff. The program is coordinated through the Department of American Sign Language and Interpreting Education at NTID. The aim of the program is to enhance interactions among Deaf and hearing members for our RIT Community. Fifteen RIT faculty/staff (who are not employed within the College of NTID and who represent the various academic and non-academic areas of RIT) will be selected to participate in this intensive three-week program during the month of June.

The focus of this program will be to develop basic American Sign Language skills, provide an introduction to Deaf Culture and introduce the dynamics of Deaf and hearing interactions.

Sessions will be held every day for three weeks. All program costs associated with this professional development experience will be assumed by the Institute.
