Effective March 31, 2008 Carlson Wagonlit Travel, now the world’s leading travel management company, is RIT’s official travel agency.
Why did RIT change their travel agent?
RIT decided to consolidate all business travel with one national travel management company. Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) was chosen as the preferred agency for RIT for several reasons including:
- Increased security for the RIT travelers. At the touch of a button, RIT can access the location of every RIT traveler. Travel alerts will be sent advising RIT of any world events that could put our travelers at risk
- Pre-negotiated rates save on costs and are accessible on the exclusive RIT site
- Lower hotel rates and car rental plans
- Gives the RIT traveler the choice of using the Carlson Wagonlit self-booking tool or having the assistance of a “live” travel agent dedicated to the RIT account
For travelers who use the online self-booking tool, there is $9.50 charge included in the price quoted (the same as other on-line booking tool such as Travelocity and Orbitz). If you prefer to book travel with an agent, the agency fee is $27 per transaction. The fee will not be charged unless you book a flight. CWT has an "after hours" Emergency Service Center; there is a $20 fee for this service. Contact CWT during business hours for general questions.
