Responsible for providing direction and long-term strategic planning for the fiscal management of the University’s sponsored research activities.
Develop and maintain the infrastructure within SPA required to provide exceptional support and service to principal investigators (PIs) and department administrators involved in the administration of sponsored programs.
Research emerging accounting issues and reporting guidelines relating to sponsored program post-award administration. Prepare interpretation/position relative to external financial statements.
Ensure that departmental outreach efforts are effective including the following: 1) compliance training for RIT PIs and staff; 2) training skills of SPA financial representatives to enhance delivery of course materials; and 3) PI mentoring program designed to assist new PIs with an understanding of RIT’s policies and procedures and research compliance regulations as well as financial reporting and monitoring of project expenditures.
