Emergency Response
This phase occurs when an emergency has occurred or is about to occur, emergency responders have been dispatched to the scene, but the RIT CIMP has not been activated and the CIMT is not been mobilized.
The RIT Emergency Response Plan details response priorities, responsibilities and procedures in response to certain hazards. Plans that supplement the Emergency Response Plan will be Building Emergency Action Plans (evacuation and shelter in place) and Changes in University Operating Status.
Emergency Communications are critical to emergency response. Letting the campus community know as soon as possible that an emergency situation exists and providing direction on what to do could mean the difference between life and death. Emergency Communications are addressed specifically in the Emergency Response Plan.
